On the 8th and 9th of June, Odyssea had the honor of participating in the international conference organized by the European Association of Institutes Vocational Training (EVBB) in Uppsala, Sweden. Α representative of our organization joined professionals, institutional leaders, and governmental representatives from across the globe to explore the transformative power of innovative technologies in vocational education and training. The event encompassed inspiring sessions, interactive workshops, and meaningful networking activities that highlighted the boundless potential for growth and advancement in our field.

What did we talk about then? 

Exploring the Future: The Impact of Metaverse and AI on Vocational Training

At the conference, we delved deep into the realm of the future by discussing the far-reaching impact of the metaverse and artificial intelligence (AI) on vocational training. Through engaging conversations and thought-provoking presentations, we explored how these cutting-edge technologies have the potential to revolutionize the way we learn and work. We witnessed how immersive virtual reality (VR) and AI-powered tools are empowering vocational education and training, enabling learners to acquire practical skills in a simulated yet realistic environment.

Shaping the Future of Learning: Creation of Curricula through Chat GPT

One of the captivating topics covered during the conference was the use of AI, specifically Chat GPT, in shaping the future of learning. We discovered how AI is playing a pivotal role in the creation of curricula, enhancing the customization and personalization of educational content, and promising to foster greater engagement and relevance for learners, ultimately preparing them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Identifying Innovative Technologies: Pioneering Change

The conference served as a platform for identifying and showcasing innovative technologies that are poised to redefine vocational education and training. We witnessed the convergence of Industrial 4.0 and the green transition, witnessing firsthand how sustainability and digitalization are seamlessly integrated into vocational training. The conference provided a vibrant space for exchanging ideas, experiences, and best practices, enabling us to stay at the forefront of technological advancements and remain agile in our approach.

Empowering through Workshops: A Journey into VR and AI

Odyssea actively participated in the “Innovative Management for Implementing VR and AI Solutions in VET” workshop, where we gained invaluable insights and practical knowledge. 

We also had the unique opportunity to experience a Standalone VR Headset in a vocational education and training environment, which inspired us of the tremendous potential of these technologies to transform the learning landscape.

A Historic Moment: Collaboration for a Common Voice

A truly significant moment at the conference was the announcement of a new cooperation agreement among the European Forum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EfVET), EVBB, and the European Vocational Training Association (EVTA). This agreement, in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marked the creation of a common European sectoral voice for training providers in technical, vocational, and professional education. By uniting as a joint representative of the VET sector, this collaboration will elevate the voice of VET practitioners to the highest levels of policy-making, ensuring that our collective expertise and insights shape the future of vocational training.

The EVBB international conference was an unforgettable experience for Odyssea. It ignited our passion for innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement in vocational education and training. From exploring the transformative potential of the metaverse and AI to experiencing cutting-edge technologies firsthand, we returned from the conference with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to driving positive change in our organization and beyond. We are proud to be part of a global community that shares our vision for a dynamic, future-focused vocational training sector, and we look forward to leveraging the knowledge and connections gained at the conference to shape the future of learning for generations to come.
