Refugee Women Academy
Refugee Women Academy, the new action implemented under Piraeus’ EQUALL programme in strategic partnership with Odyssea, is addressed to vulnerable refugee women and focuses on their vocational training in tourism professions aiming to assist their integration into the labour market. The Refugee Women Academy is an initiative of Piraeus, in collaboration with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, in Greece.
Refugee Women Academy, the action which started in the second half of 2023, will continue in 2024 under the EQUALL programme of Piraeus in strategic cooperation with Odyssea. The action, addressed to women, focuses on their vocational training in tourism professions and prepares them for jobs in the tourism sector. The aim of the action is the integration and/or reintegration of refugee and asylum-seeking women into the labour market, enhancing their sense of personal empowerment and belonging. Refugee Women Academy is an initiative of Piraeus, in cooperation with UNHCR Greece.
Action objectives
- Empower the participants to build self-confidence and self-awareness, so that they can unleash their potential
- Equip the participants with professional and technical skills that will assist their integration to the labour market, especially in the tourism sector
- Guide the participants towards a career that matches their personality and ambition
Conditions for participation
Eligible to participate in the Refugee Women Academy programme are women who are refugees/asylum seekers, residing in the Attica region.
