The problem

Today, 1 in 3 young people aged 16-34 in Greece are unemployed, one of the highest rates in the EU, and many of them are at risk of poverty or social exclusion. Even when employed, they may not be able to cover basic expenses.

Poverty in Greece is also one of the highest in Europe and seriously affects the physical and mental well-being of those who experience it. Young people with low levels of education, limited work experience, lack of basic skills and no access to skills training are trapped in unemployment and poverty.

Our solution

The aim of the project is the vocational training of young people who do not participate in education or employment processes (NEETs) and their promotion to employment. Indicatively, some of the training categories are HORECA, BUSINESS, BLUE ECONOMY, ELDER CARE, CONSTRUCTION.

The following integrated programme of actions is envisaged to achieve the objective:

  • Beneficiary assessment
  • Introductory hands-on workshops in selected professional disciplines
  • Vocational training in various disciplines
  • Creation/development of a professional profile
  • Introduction of graduates to the labour market

For more information about the project, contact Iro Baka, Operational Manager of Odyssea, at 210 481 5780.
