For Odyssea, becoming a CAF America Validated Organization is one of those moments.
For years, we’ve been working to create something bigger than training programmes or employment services. We’ve been building a community where people can learn new skills, find opportunities, become independent, and take their next step with confidence.
After an extensive review by CAF America — part of the global Charities Aid Foundation network, Odyssea has been vetted and entered into their Global Charity Database. In practice, it means an independent, internationally recognised body has examined how we’re governed, how we manage our finances, and how we operate day to day, and confirmed that every contribution entrusted to us is used exactly as intended: to help people learn, work, and thrive.
Why this matters to us
For a community like ours, trust is everything. This validation is more than a certificate on a wall, it’s a promise, verified. It tells our participants, partners, and supporters that the confidence they place in Odyssea is proven, not assumed.
It also means something practical and genuinely exciting: our network is growing.
A milestone that puts that trust to the test
To become a CAF America Validated Organization, Odyssea went through an extensive review by CAF America, part of the global Charities Aid Foundation network.
The process looked closely at how we are governed, how we manage our finances, and how we operate as an organisation.
Following this review, Odyssea was vetted and entered into CAF America’s Global Charity Database.
For us, this is more than a validation or a certificate.
It means that an independent, internationally recognised organisation has examined the way we work and confirmed that we meet the standards required to be part of its global network.
In other words, the trust placed in Odyssea isn’t simply something we ask people to believe in.
It has been independently examined and verified.
Why this matters
When you work with communities facing barriers to education, employment, and opportunity, trust is everything.
Every training course represents someone’s time and ambition.
Every employability session can be a step towards a new job.
Every donation represents someone’s decision to believe that their contribution can make a difference.
That is why this milestone matters to us.
It strengthens the confidence of the people we serve, the organisations we work with, and the people around the world who want to support what we’re building.
And it brings something else with it: a new way for our network to grow.
Opening the door across the Atlantic
Until now, supporting Odyssea from the United States could come with practical barriers.
Now, that’s changing.
Through CAF America, U.S.-based individuals, foundations, and Donor Advised Funds can support Odyssea through an established international giving pathway.
For eligible U.S. donors, contributions made through CAF America may also provide access to applicable U.S. tax benefits, subject to individual circumstances and U.S. tax rules.
And importantly, supporting an organisation like Odyssea doesn’t require us to have a physical base in the U.S. or our own 501(c)(3) status.
For the Greek diaspora, this creates an opportunity to stay connected to Greece in a meaningful way — by supporting people who are building skills, finding work, and creating more independent futures.
