About the Program
RE-SAIL is a training and employability initiative that supports vulnerable youth in building a career in the Blue and Circular Economy sectors, industries that focus on the sustainable use of ocean resources and eco-friendly practices.
Through technical training, career guidance, and real job connections, the program helps young people gain the confidence, skills, and tools they need to shape their professional future.
The Problem
In Greece, many young people face serious challenges when planning their future. They often lack access to career guidance, training, and support, making it difficult for them to discover what they’re good at and choose a path that fits their skills and interests.
As a result, youth unemployment is extremely high, currently at 23.1%, one of the highest rates in the European Union. While some young people do try to start their own businesses, they often struggle to find trained staff, adapt to digital and green transitions, and access funding.
These challenges are even more intense for vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, migrants, and marginalized women, who also face social discrimination and fewer opportunities for inclusion.
Our Solution
Odyssea, in collaboration with the A.C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation, is launching the third cycle of RE-SAIL to:
- Train young people in maritime and coastal tourism, yacht crew duties, speedboat handling, boat carpentry (CNC woodworking), and boat cleaning and maintenance.
- Support them with career services, job applications, employer matchmaking, and job retention coaching.
- Build partnerships with companies in the Blue Economy to create job opportunities linked directly to our training.
The third cycle of the RE-SAIL program will further invest in training and job integration programs for young people in the Blue and Circular Economy sectors. This renewed initiative combines hands-on experience and technical expertise with skill-building and real employment opportunities, especially for vulnerable youth.
In 2025, our focus will be on education, awareness-raising, and equipping young people with the right tools and innovative methods to prepare for careers connected to the sea, such as maritime tourism, yachting, boat maintenance, and eco-friendly production. By aligning their talents and aspirations with the needs of a growing sustainable industry, RE-SAIL aims to help youth build confidence, grow professionally, and actively contribute to the future of the Blue Economy.
