The program is for people who want to start or grow their career in metal welding. Training takes place in fully equipped workshops and includes both theory and lots of hands-on practice in MMA (electrode), MIG/MAG (semi-automatic welding), and TIG (tungsten) methods.
The program lasts 80 hours and is taught by experienced professionals. At the end, participants get a certificate and are prepared for an international welder certification.
This course is part of the Bridging the Skills Gap project, funded by the Swiss-Greek Cooperation Programme and managed by the Ministry of Migration and Asylum. The project is implemented by Odyssea and aims to support refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers in their social integration by providing access to education, training, and employment opportunities.
Learning Content
Module 1: Introduction to Welding (16 hours)
- Basics of welding and electric arc
- Equipment, currents, and types of joints
- Metallurgy, distortions, and quality control
- Quality standards, health & safety
Module 2: MMA, MIG/MAG & TIG Techniques (8 hours theory)
- Theory of each welding method
- Technical details, equipment, and settings
- Choosing filler materials and shielding gases
- Advanced techniques and safety measures
Module 3: Specialization & Certification (56 hours)
- Hands-on practice in the participant’s chosen method
- Welding sheets and pipes of mild steel
- Training in all welding positions
- Preparing and welding a sample for certification
